Professor Fekri Hassan is currently Director of Cultural Heritage Management at the French University in Egypt, Emeritus Petrie Professor of Archaeology at the Institute of Archaeology, He taught there since 1994. Before that he taught at Washington State University (1975-1994). He holds a Ph.D. in anthropology from Southern Methodist University. Professor Hassan served as Vice-President of WAC, World Archaeology Congress (1998-2002) and was President of the International Water History Association (IWHA). He pioneered in the fields of geoarchaeology, climate change, demographic archaeology, Predynastic Egypt and archaeological theory. He has led numerous archaeological expeditions since 1975. He is currently committed to cultural heritage management and development.
